A herbal energy drink designed to give men a boost in the bedroom has been banned – because it also contained an erectile dysfunction drug.

MosKa is marketed around its natural ‘performance enhancing’ ingredients such as Red and Siberian Ginseng.

But its manufacturer has now discovered the drink also contained ‘an underclared ingredient’ – Vardenafil, or Levitra.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration has now warned the drink “poses a serious risk to your health and should not be taken”, according to news.com.au

‘Vardenafil (Levitra) is a prescription only substance. As such, we have terminated the supplier and in the process of producing the product with our own formulation to ensure no hidden ingredients. All our future products will be tested for compliance with all regulations.’

It’s the little blue pill that has revolutionised sex lives over the world.

Viagra, known generically as sildenafil, helps boost blood flow to a man’s penis so he can maintain an erection.

But the popular drug was invented accidentally, to treat angina, a heart condition that constricts the vessels that supply the organ with blood.

Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company that creates the drug, were searching for something to relax these blood vessels, and in the process stumbled on a pill for erectile dysfunction. 

Until recently, only men who suffered impotence as a side-effect of illness or those seen by a specialist could be given the pills on the NHS.

But since Viagra’s patent ran out in 2013, its cost has plummeted by 93 per cent and cheaper, generic versions of the drug have become available.

Because of this, the NHS has allowed all men with serious impotence problems to be prescribed the pill, and prescriptions have soared, with more than 3,800 prescriptions being dished out every day last year. 

As the drug becomes increasingly common, Dr Tom Brett, a GP in London and medical director of Lloyd’s Pharmacy’s online doctor service, explains exactly how it works…

This in turn creates cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) which controls the actions of certain hormones. The cGMP dilates the blood vessels of the penis

An enzyme called PDE-5 breaks down cGMP when sex is over, causing less blood flow to the penis, which causes it to become flaccid again. Medical and psychological conditions can cause erectile dysfunction

Viagra, whose active ingredient is sildenafil citrate, works by inhibiting PDE-5, which stops cGMP being broken down. Therefore the level of cGMP is increased and helps to achieve an erection

Medical conditions such as a hormone imbalance, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and radiation can all cause erectile dysfunction

In a nutshell, Viagra inhibits an enzyme called PDE-5 which means cGMP is not broken down. Higher levels of cGMP cause the blood vessels in the penis to dilate, increase blood flow, and causing an erection

What is erectile dysfunction?

To fully understand Viagra one must understand the condition it treats. Erectile dysfunction (ED) occurs when a man is unable to gain or maintain an erection sufficient to have successful sexual intercourse. 

ED can be caused by psychological issues such as stress, an underlying medical condition, 레비트라 인터넷 구매 or sometimes by lifestyle choices.

How does Viagra work?

The quick answer is Viagra works by relaxing the muscle cells in the blood vessels supplying the penis, allowing more blood to flow there. This increased blood flow increases the likelihood of getting an erection.

Viagra was under patent protection in the UK until 2013. Since the patent expired, legal cheaper versions of generic Viagra (sildenafil) have been made available. 

However, the quality of the Viagra brand name means many men still prefer to use the original product.

Can Viagra cause side effects?

Most men will not experience any side effects when taking Viagra. If side effects do occur they are generally mild and brief.

Viagra doesn’t always work first time, but that doesn’t mean it won’t ever work. If nothing happens the first time round, Viagra could nevertheless be more effective next time.

Indeed, doctors advise trying all erectile dysfunction medicines eight times before giving up and moving on to another treatment or higher dose.

Major League Baseball warned players about the risk of using over-the-counter sexual-enhancement pills in a memo, ESPN reported on Wednesday.

According to the memo, 레비트라 강직도 which was obtained by ESPN, at least two players who were suspended for performance-enhancing drugs said the banned substances found in their urine came from such products.

The memo was distributed Monday to warn against the risk of consuming non-certified supplements that may contain banned PEDs.

The memo said players are subject to discipline if they inadvertently use a banned substance.

“Sexual or male enhancement products present a very real risk for drug-tested players,” the memo said, “and the high likelihood for contamination or unidentified ingredients in these products underscores the importance of consuming only those products that are NSF Certified for Sport.”

Two new scientific studies have shown that sleep disorders are linked to high incidence of erectile dysfunction. In particular, sleep apnea can cause regular deprivation of oxygen during episodes of obstructed breathing. A study conducted on animals indicates that a lack of oxygen suffered during obstructive sleep apnea led to decline in daily spontaneous erections by 55%.

Lack of quality sleep can cause a wide range of health complications such as erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence. In an inverse manner, researchers found that men with erectile dysfunction were twice at risk of sleep apnea than those without erectile dysfunction. People getting low sleep levels (less than five hours) are at high risk of developing calcification in their blood vessels. It has been found that for every extra hour of sleep, the risk of developing calcified arteries drop by 33%. Further, it is verified that those getting ample amount of sleep (greater than 7 hours) had a much lower incidence of artery blockage. These blockages in the blood vessels can interrupt the free flow of blood to the penis and lead to erectile dysfunction.

Another big risk factor for impotence is inflammation. A 2008 scientific study revealed that a few hours of disturbance in the normal sleep pattern can lead to significantly increased inflammation levels throughout the body. This is mainly attributed to increased levels of certain chemicals in the body due to insufficient sleep. Bombarding people with adverts on television and radio for Viagra increases the number of babies that are born, a new study claims.

Viagra has been advertised on television in the UK since it was reclassified from prescription-only to over the counter medication a few years ago.

The new study, 레비트라 비아그라 차이 published in the Journal of Marketing Research, claims that a one per cent increase in advertising of erectile dysfunction caused the birth rate to increase between 0.04 and 0.08 per cent.

Dr Tongil Kim is a co-author of the study and an assistant professor at the University of Texas in Dallas. 

He examined the advertising stats of Viagra (sildenafil), Levitra (vardenafil) and Cialis (tadalafil) compared to the births at a hospital in Massachusetts between 2001 and 2010 as well as 15 million US birth certificates between 2000 and 2004.

Two neighbouring postcodes were examined in the study, with one receiving more erectile dysfunction adverts than the other. 

Birth rates were found to be higher in the postcode that received more adverts. 

Dr Kim said: ‘One popular hypothesis for the increased birth rates focused on older male ad viewers taking the pill and fathering more babies.
