This is the shocking moment an off-duty police officer brutally assaults his 72-year-old neighbor after he accidentally hit the officer’s paddleboard with his car. 

Victim Harry Horsley was assaulted by his neighbor of 36-years Scott Saunders, an 18-year veteran of the Police Department, in , on Monday July 24.

Horsley said he was left bloodied and bruised by the altercation, that another neighbor of theirs managed to capture on video. 

In the cell phone video, Horsley is seen on the ground with the police sergeant on top of him pinning him down. 

Horsley told  that the assault started when he had been driving him and Saunders hit his car with a paddleboard he was carrying.

The shocking video shows Horsley clearly struggling and trying to throw Saunders off him by kicking his legs. 

As Saunders eventually gets off Horsley, the older man is red in the face as he backs away from the police officer.

The 72-year-old told the outlet he got out of his car and asked him: ‘Why did you hit my car?That’s all I said.’

Horsley said the next thing he knew he was pushed to the ground and punched by Saunders. 

He continued: ‘He bull-rushed me down to the ground. Landed on top of me, I’m on my back. 

‘He pounded away, I’m like this trying to protect myself from getting hit worse.

‘Here I am, 72 years old.I shouldn’t be taking a punch from anybody, let alone a Police Sergeant.’

Pembroke Police have since charged Saunders with assault and battery following the attack, which resulted in Horsley presenting at a local hospital. 

A police report said that Horsley suffered a cut to the left side of his face, a bloody nose, swelling and bruising around an eye and other injuries.
